Question:
I have been with Vodafone for nearly 5 years and told them 2 weeks ago that Iwant to cancel my contract.
I have since had endless phone calls from them and have been ignoring them or saying that I am too busy to talk.
Tonight I spoke with a very helpful woman who told me that they were concerned I was leaving as I have been a valued customer. I explained that it wasn't anything personal and I have been happy with Vodafone but I am looking to cut back on my monthly outgoings and I have the O2 PAYG £10/300 messages (this is the true reason).
She offered me a deal of £15 month to include 100 X network minutes and 250 texts. I explained that as I use a lot of texts and not that many calls that I was better off on the O2 PAYG. She then said that she could offer me a 12 month contract and not 18 months plus a new phone for free or I could keep my existing phone and they would credit my account with £50 (on the Vodafone website this is a deal they are offering for new customers).
I asked if I could think about it and she explained that the offer ended at midnight tonight. I apologised and said that I was just on my way out and would have liked to think about it so would have to decline her generous offer. With that she said that she could call me back tomorrow and let her know.
Is this a good deal? Also, when I speak to her again tomorrow should I push for the £50 credit and the new phone or is that being very greedy? I usually wouldn't push my luck but having read the posts am not sure now how far to go with the offers.
Thanks.

Nowt really special as you said its available to new customers anyways :-/ :-/
Whats the phone offer?
S'pose the fact that they offer it means u don't ave to bother with cashbacks

That's my concern. Am I being taken for a mug or am I being greedy? To be honest I am quite happy to cancel the Vodafone contract but not sure if I am being duped by their sales pitch.
I am not fussed either about a flashy phone but I have looked on their website and they have quite a few for free on pay monthly contracts. I like the look of the Sony Ericsson K700i but that said am not fussed about getting a new phone as I have 2 Nokia phones that work fine.
So I guess my question now is am I buying into their sales pitch?

ask for sony ericson 910i for free and tell them because of the keynoard it makes texting easier. if they agree then take the deal and sell the phone for £400 plus. you are then in the money. they should be able to give u about 500 texts for £15 if u dont include any voice minutes or 50 voice minutes. this combination would be a deal woth taking for 12 months.

if they are offering a deal at £15 per month do you honestly think they will give a P910 for free?
depending on what phone they offer it's up to you to work out what it's worth, a 6230 or K700i you are talking £150+ so £10 at leats of your bill each month which probably beats the O2 PAYG deal and means you are a contract customer next year rather than a PAYG

No chance of getting the 910i for £15 per month !
The Erickson for £15 per month would be a good deal !
You could try for that

I think u r a low spend customer and would be better off taking a new promotional contract from a direct online dealer offering casback.
There is loads of choice at the mo.
And some good hansets as well
Me personally the nokia 6230
after all video calling is only for teenagers and sad single men

Hi just a quick question - got a call from vodafone today saying I was a valued customer and I was eligible for a phone upgrade.
My concern is how can you tell they're really who they say they are? To confirm my identity, I'd given them my address and D.O.B. but then almost kicked myself when I realised I didn't actually know exactly who I was talking to!
Does anyone have a good way to confirm their identity? I asked the girl on the phone for her name, and asked to call them back, but she wasn't able to give me a number I could call them back on. Later I called the number that showed on my phone when she called me, but the number didn't exist.
I said I'd think about it, and she said she'd call back tomorrow... Any suggestions welcome.

go for 500 texts tell them 250 is not enough, and you want a free phone, a nokia 7610 is very nice but dont forget if they dont offer it to you cancel, theyll bend let me tell you what have you to lose, nothing i stress you must have the text doubled they did it for me

Go with O2 I had a 12 month contract with them for £13 a month and as I textmore than talked for that I got 100 texts and 30 minutes inclusive talktime.
I also got a Nokia 3100i (top of the 'free' handset range at the time).
I have just cancelled my contract with them however as had a dislike as to the way they treated me (customer service issue not contract issue), I am also now going over to Pay as I go as circumstances have changed so oit will be cheaper for me.
Goodluck anyhow, keep pushing them until theyrefuse to budge then take what you can get. Its better to be slightly embarrassed for retracting your demands over the 'phone to a stranger than to realise you may have got more if you had only just tried your luck?
