Question:
I have followed the advice of Martin's Newsletter and gone to OneCompare to find the best mobile phone tarrif, but some of the offers seem too good to be true. For instance, look at the offers on this page.
With cashback, it seems to be a free phone, with free line rental for the entire month. Nothing at all to pay, if you stay within your package, fairly normal phone charges if you go over.
What am I missing here? Everything can't be free?? If there some way in which they are going to avoid giving me cashback?
Trying to decipher mobile phone charges makes my brain hurt.

hi and welcome to the site! i am not an expert on this but quite a few of these offers are available from different providers from time to time and the best are often discussed on this site. There are a few providers who do honour the contract and provide a free phone, line rental and minutes. The important things to look out for are: 1-make sure it is a company that has a history of repaying the contract (you have to set up a direct debit so you get the money by claiming it back - if the company goes under or refuses to pay then you will pay the line rental). You can use this site to search for specific companies and post any problems you have with a company on this matter and it should help avoid either falling for a scam. 2- if you are looking for a free phone, make sure you send your invoices back by registered post and you stay within the allocated minutes. 3- make sure you cancel the contract in the 11th month to avoid any charges. hope this helps!

I purchased a phone through this site. The RAZR V3. From a company called Mobile Outlet.
If you take a look around this site, you'll notice that there area a lot of phone companies popping up (many connected with CPW) offereing pretty good deals - through cashback. But since they are new, there is no history on how good (or bad) they are in paying this cashback.
I know that I'm taking a risk. The question is, whether YOU want to take a risk. Worse case, is that I will have paid £360 (£30 per month) for a V3 phone, and 200 any-time minutes per month (though I could probably sell the phone for something thereafter.)
Best case, is that I also get my full £360 back.
Cheers,
Don
