Customer specifications
Hi Everyone
I would like to enter specifications against each customer and enter the results against that by creating lot.
Pl tell me the procedure.I could able to do for material specifications.
Thanks in advance
POOJA
a possible way is creating a separate group counter in your inspection plan per customer, maintaining the material/customer assignment and the relevant tolerances/target values/specifications per MIC.

Hi Pooja,
I would request people asking questions here to be more precise and not generic. It is impossible to give one answer or even two options, not knowing the full story. As I see, many of the generic questions could be answered by reading SAP documentation (you may need to read it twice or thrice !)
If we get focuessed questions, the people answering those will remain motivated to respond fast and accurate.
In this example, it largely depends on what is the trigger for inspection. Evenif you assign customer specific plans, do you want to inspect prior to delivery? then it is simple. If it is within production, then the question would be, are working with MTO, if not, do you want to create manual lots and choose from mulitple plans etc...
So again the request is pl be specific and elaborate.
thanks

Hi Anand and all
Thanks for your suggestion,I will keep in mind.Let me clarify my process.I have different specifications for product and customer.I am using inspection type 04 for production order. In quality plan,I have assigned product specifications. But customer specifications are different to some extent, which he wants to print on certificate of analysis.Specs are different for customer to customer.I have mapped all matser charecteristics in quality plan. And customer wise profile is created and required parameters are assigned in that profile.
If Customer- A COA to be printed, select that profile and take print out.
This is the procedure I am following. Is there any simple way of doing the above.I hope I am clear
Thanks
POOJA
Another depends.. are you planning to manufacture to the customer specs? Or are you manufacturing to the product spec? If your manufacturing to the product spec, then consider batch search strategies to ensure that your customer only gets material that meets their needs.
Then create new spec origin for your COA profiles and create a function module for it that retrieves that replaces the material specs with any values set up in the batch search strategy.
If you want to produce to the customer specs then you need to make to order. That's a whole different scenario. But sounds like to me you want to manufacture to product spec.

Hi Pooja,
1) What kind of industry are u implementing for?
2) Are characteristics similar for the products but with diff values for each Customer.
3) Are you using MTO scenario ?

My client has a similar request for certificates of Analysis for their customers.
In the chemical industry, using batch management, we will be creating batch characteristics that will be populated from the master inspection characteristics in the material specification. The inspection characteristics have standard tolerances/specifications which do not vary (that is, the material is always inspected to the same criteria).
Most of the time, the customer requirement will not specify a unique tolerance, but they may request a 'subset' of the specification range. We believe we can call this in the batch search strategy for the customer.
Additionally, the certificate of Analysis content will typically be drawn from the batch characteristics for the material, but there are some customers for which not all the batch characteristics that would normally be reported must be listed. Is there a standard method to derive the content of the certificate of analysis content by customer?
You can automate the selection process of certificate profile in QC21 by defining a condition type for profile determination based on Customer No + Material.
Hi
Different certificate profiles can be created - thus for the same material, you can have many certificate profiles, each linked to a different customer if needed. On the certificate profile one determines which characteristics to print, what specification limits to print, etc. One then link the profile to a Material or Customer/Material or Group of Materials, etc. The conditions tables can be changed in config.
Hope this helps

We have numerous products that have different requirements for the certificates of analysis. What is the most efficient way to load these profiles for production cutover? My presumption is, I need to create a profile for each product type and then assign the characteristics from the batch record or material specification, as needed, and then assign the respective materials to both material assignment categories.
Is there a simple way to do this data load, given that I probably will have 500 - 1000 different products with three or more material numbers to be assigned to the profiles?
Thanks!
Hi
You can create a profile (QC01) for a group of materials and then link the group to the profile (QC15). Any material that are part of that group that needs a different profile, can be linked directly to that profile. This will reduce the linking of all materials to profiles.
Hope this helps.
