Question:
Hi,
I want to track all equipment with material ans serial number. Can someone please tell me how to bring it into the system at cut over. As these equipments might have a value in asset , should I keep the price in the material master same as that in the asset master.

Tom,
Perform your data uplaods as follows:
1. Create material with "serial number profile"
2. Create equipment master, assign above material and serial number - save
This should create your serialised equipment.
Remember, you cannot have duplicate serial numbers for the same material.

Define serial number profile in customizing.
Create material master with serial number profile.
Create equipment with right material number.
allow system to create serial number automatically.
