Creating Inspection Stock for Manually Created Inspection Ty

Question:
Our client has a requirement whereby they need to create manual inspection lots for Ad-hoc processes, e.g., non-conforming events and customer returns. They need to have the stock balances for these inspection lots showing in QI stock.
For customer returns, they do not have SD active in their SAP system (later phase work). What we need is a process that, while manual, allows us to post these and other inspection lot quantities to QI stock, either through a configuration of an inspection type (standard or custom) or possibly through a customized movement type.
Answer:
To create an inspection lot with stock, just use the material movement. For example, return from customers, use movement 451 which uses inspection origin 06. (even if SD is not being used)
For Non-conforming events, if it is in blocked, movement 349 will move it back to QI, else 322 will bring it back from unrestricted. These both use inspection origin 08.
Hope it helps

Hi, Ron:
I have tried your example, using 451 to create the customer return inspection lot, and it looks fine, except that there's no inspection stock displayed on the stock overview related to the inspection lot and no inspection stock status tab on the usage decision.
An examination of the default values of inspection type 06 does not offer an option of posting to inspection stock (no inspection lot creation block on the inspection type 06, like there is on inspection type 01 for goods receipt PO).
This is the piece the client would like to see - an inspection lot stock balance.
Answer:
Hi!
By documentation "Stock management in QM" inspection lot origin 06 is not stock relevant. I found this when I tried find appropriate inspection type for stock tranfers. You will find the whole documentation in SAP service market place. There is quite good documentation about stock management in QM.

Thanks, Tuulia:
Could you be more specific as to where in the Service Marketplace this QM stock document is posted? I wasn't able to locate it.

Answer:
I was not thinking there. You have to make a decison with returns.
If you do not not to own the stock(yet)
You bring it into returns with inspection. Do the inspection, and then move it. into inventory if required, after the inspection.
If you do want to own the stock
You first bring it into returns without QM. Then move it from returns to QI stock. This would generate on 08 inspection like a regular movement.
