plant to plant transfer
Consider foll scenario:
I have 4 plants. One is sort of central warehouse.Rest are all retail outlets.
At the end of the day requirement is generated based on day's sale/stock in hand etc etc. for all the 3 retail outlets(plants) and saved as excel sheet.
The data is then fed in to baan(which client is currently using) which in turn creates replenishment order in system on central plant(supplying plant) with the details such as material,quantity/del date etc)
Based on this the goods from the centarl plant/WH are transferred to other 3 plants.
This scenario is to be mapped in SAP.
Should we use STO or just a plant to plant transfer is enough. No transport cost has to be jacked up on material It is booked as expenses.
Some times it happens that if the goods are not available at central plant/WH, then it asks one of the other 3 plants/outlets to arrange for that if they have.In that case how the transport order can help as it could be 3 plants involved here.
How to have some sort of document in SAP from that excel sheet so that the central plant/warehouse comes to know the requirement of all 3 plants/outlets ?
MRP is out of scope.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Purely my opinion:
It will be better if you use STO rather than direct transfer.
Here is my concern:
1. if central warehouse doesnt have any stock, this requirement should be still captured. direct transfer can not handle this except if you put request as a reservation. but still STO is better
2. It will be easier if in future user ask about outlet's requirement and fulfillment (how many from central stock and how many from other outlet stock)
if central w/h does not have any stock then central w/h need to create request to outlet with stock (better use the same approcah) and then transfer this to requester ...

I would suggest the plant-to-plant stock transfer without using STO (unless the legal requirement enforces you to do so) so as to simplify your process. The only solution to recognize the stock requirements from three plants is to upload/migrate your excel spreadsheet into SAP as the reservations.

Dear Ha Tran,
How can the reservations be created as suggested by you.Can you share some links or brief idea about this ?
Reservation is out of scope but if it's really a less time consuming developement then can be thought of.
Manually transferring the goods from plant to plant would be labourous task for the person who would do the transfer posting as there would be hundreds of items involved.
can a STO be created out of this excel sheet with little efforts ?
Or is there any other way around.
The thing is that many things are out of scope and client wants a simple vanila implementation.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
If that the case then you can upload it using LSMW.
Please note that you have to derive which outlet has the stock for the case no/lack of stock in central w/h.

Just a note: If you have put authorisation restrictions in place - where users are only allowed to post to their own plant (and not to other plants) - then you should use STO's. Reservations can then not be used - based on authorisation restrictions.

Reservations can be interpreted as planned independent requirements or forecast requirements. Since I am not quite sure how your system was set up, it is difficult to suggest how to make such 'reservations' in your system to facilitate your process definition. Perhaps, it will be much better if you can provide additional details of your existing process and system setting (including your 'plug-in' application) so that we can probably come up to some sort of recommendations.
Cheers,
