Question:
Hello All,
You all know that monthly period closing is one of the most important activities in MM. I am responsible for monthly period closing at my factory.
As the regular procedure goes, u have to enter into transaction MMPV then enter the current period u require to post and then execute it.
From past 5 months I am experiencing that the closed period does not get updated in the system after doing this transaction. I get a "Transaction completed successfully" report, but it doesn't get updated in the OB52 table that drives all the period related activity.
The automatic updation was taking place till April 2003. Then, one of the accounts guys changed something in OB52. Since that time we are facing this problem.
Can anyone suggest a method to get this done automatically again? Further, tell me which parameters to set right in OB52 to make this happen.

have u seen the transaction OB%@ (it is not table, but transaction Code). this has relavence to MMPV. Please ask the finance person to check the relavent Accounts for materials (Account Type - M) and make changes in the periods and the Year.

Var A Acc Acc From Year To Year
From TO Period 1 Period1
Var M ZZZZ 01 2004 12 2004
In period 2 - make 12 and year as 2003 (both for fromperiod and to-period )

MMPV is material master period closing.While via OB52 we activate accounting period for relevent GL accounts in a company code.
Both are independent activity.
MMPV is resposiblity of MM guy while OB52 is a Finanace resposibility.

Even they are independent activity, but MM period is depend on the FI, cause if MM period already open, but FI hasn't, where the accounting posting will go?
So OB52 must opened first, then MM guy will do MMPV, it is right, is it?

sure there are independent activities and, again, it is correct that you cannot make a posting if one of them is not mantained.
but, mm closing month procedure does not affect fi settings.
so, after you did mmpv, go in tcode mmrv. there you can check which is the current month. if in there the settings are ok, your job is done and you should ask the fi guy to do his.
