Batch determination

Question:
In batch determination, we have conditions tables 024 (Movt type/plant/material ) and 023 ( plant/material).Assume that we have an access sequence in which 024 is searched first and 023 is searched later. I would like to know the use of movt type in these condition tables :
For ex : batch determination would be activated only if I allocate a search procedure for the movement type. Assume that I have assigned a search procedure to movt type 201 and when I try to do a goods issue to a cost center, I need to key in the movement type ,plant , material and * in the batch field to activate the search procedure. When the system starts searching , it will only pick up a batch that is available for the plant and material combination and the movement type has nothing to do with the search except for the fact that it activates the batch search procedure.
In such a case, where is the difference between the two condition tables 024 and 023. In both cases , I have to however enter the movement type and the search is purely based on Plant and material . If the system does not a find a batch in 024 combination , it will obviously not find in 023 also.
Any reasons pl.
Thanks
Answer:
I will give you an example how I use this.
In general we use a batch determination while doing a goods issue. Here we just select unrestricted material sorted by goods receipt date.
But then we have some exeptions which need to be handeled as well with a batch determination.
For rework (goods issue to production) we created a new movement type by copying the standard 261. An there we only want rework restricted batches. Hence I have to use a batch search via movement type which selects for this movement type restricted batches and oldest first.
A second example is that we use for certain materials a batch determination for good receipts. In our global setup we have to have batch management on all raw materials, however some plants do not need to distinguish stock by batches. Hence we created just one batch and each GR is going to this one. For this I have setup a batch determination as well using the movement type 101 and material number und find the desired batch. (Yes a single batch can easily be found with F4, but if the receiver created a second batch for that material by accidend it not easy to pick the right one anymore with F4)
