Answer:
Hi,
Either you can use the standard feature of MRP Area or you can use the standard User Exit (Check in Enhancement M61X0001 with Function Module EXIT_SAPMM61X_001 that included LXM61F01). In fact, this User Exit can be used as long as you have organized your storage location whereby a separate MRP controller will be controlling different storage location.

Hi M Jindal,
Materials planning can be executed at the plant level or below the plant level of individual MRP areas. MRP areas enable differentiation of materials requirement planning within a plant.
Here a group of storage locations for which common MRP run is required can be clubbed together into one MRP area or you may define each storage location as a different MRP area if you want to run MRP at the level of Storage location.
MRP areas are optional. If you run an MRP without referrring to MRP areas plant becomes the default MRP area.
Furthermore there are 3 MRP areas.
1. Plant - This is automatically created by activating planning within MRP area in customization. Their numbers match the number of the plant. If no more MRP areas are defined, the plant MRP area covers the entire plant.
2. Storage Location MRP area can include one or more storage locations assigned to them.
3. Subcontractor MRP areas provide planning of the requirement of the material provided for a subcontractor, and are defined by assignment of these subcontracotrs.
4. However, assignment of storage location MRP areas and subcontractor MRP areas must be kept mutually exclusive and hence a subcontractor and a storage location should not be clubbed into one MRP area.
5. It is also advisable that if you are activating subcontractor MRP areas, you create a separate MRP area for each subcontractor as the production capacityof each subcontractor is normally not the same.
Example :
Plant 1000
Storage location 0001
Storage Location 0002
Storage location 0003
Storage location 0004
Subcontractor 1001
Presume that you have created an MRP area 1201 for storage locations 0001 and 0002 and MRP area 1202 for subcontractor 1001.
You have also activated planning within MRp area in cutomization.
In this case the system will execute materials planning separately first for the MRP areas 1201 (Storage locations 0001 and 0002), then for MRP area 1202 (subcontractor 1001). After this the system will execute the materials planning for MRP area 1000 (MRP area number = plant nymber as you have activated planning within MRP area in customization) at the plant level ( that will include storage locations 0003 and 0004 which have been assigned to the plant 1000 but not to any other MRP areas.)

Hi,
This is to supplement to the comprehensive clarification from K. Kumar that the MRP Area is purposely used if we would like to control the material requirement planning at the lower level than the default plant level. Subject to the Type of MRP Area (which is defined in Transaction OMIZ), the MRP Area will correspond to the whole plant or the storage location or to a subcontractor. If the MRP Area Type is selected as at the Storage location level, then you will assign the storage location to the MRP Area in the storage location field.
As far as the MRP Area configuration is concerned, there have been three main Transactions you should use -
1) Activate MRP for MRP Areas (Transaction OM01)
2) Define MRP Areas (Transaction OMIZ) and
3) Define Scope of Planning for Total Planning (Transaction OM0E).

thanks K. Kumar & Ha Tran for your comprehensive clarification on the subject. as per ur suggestion i did all customization settings, now i want to now do i need any change in material mater which are already exist in system before run the MRP at Sloc. level?
i m asking this question why because earlier my client was enjoying MRP at plant level.
one thing i would like to clear here is that we r not going to use the MRP area for subcontractor.

Hi,
Obviously, you have to update your material master records if you would like to run MRP at the MRP Area - Storage Location level. What you have to do is to make sure that all MRP settings being defined at the plant level must be deleted in replacement for the setting at the MRP Area. Let me know again if you would need my further assistance on showing you how to maintain it in your master data.
