WM
Hi,
I have a scenario, in which we have 100 storage locations. The stock position (Mixed put ) of each mat @ bin level is reqd.
In this scenario, if 100 storage locations are declared and One Warehouse is used.
WHAT complications can be expected.
Using SAP 4.6C .
thanks,
Bandi.
Hi Bandi:
I recently "blasted" Svetja, in a perhaps too strongly expressed response to suggest that exactly what you propose should not be done. You can read the reasons here:
/forums/viewtopic.php?t=78205&highlight=
Essentially, the problems which you will experience will be during delivery creation for ATP and Picking Location Determination. Since version 4.0 (I believe), it is possible to connect the same warehouse to multiple Storage Locations.
The overall main benefit of WM is that you can easily sub-divide one (or more) storage locations into multiple logical units, by doing so, you should eliminate the need to have so many storage locations.
I hope that this helps.

Hi Sackman,
Can you please tell more about
" The overall main benefit of WM is that you can easily

Thanks.
Hi Bandi & Guest:
First of all, thanks to Bandi for very courteously acknowledging my contribution to this forum. I too appreciate the time and effort that Svetja, Ha Tran, and others put into this forum. Without all of our contributions, there would be one less, valuable resource available to all of us Sappers.
Regarding my comment about "dividing a Storage Location into multiple logical Units", everyone should know a very important pre-cept of SAP WM, and that is that each Warehouse in SAP always has a direct link to a Plant/Storage Location Combination. Since release 4.0, you can always link more than one Storage Location to a Warehouse, but you always have to have at least one. All of the SAP WM organizational objects below this level, are essentially a way of dividing a Storage Location down into more precise levels.
The hierarchy is as follows:
Warehouse
Storage Type
Storage Section
Bin
Storage Units (Pallets)
Quants
As you can see, with all of these additional hierarchical levels added to the standard MM Level of Plant and Storage Location, which are above the WM objects which I mention, there is quite a lot of additional levels at which you can manage your stock level data.
I hope that this answers your question. Please fee free to ask more questions if you would like to discuss this further.
