Value based inventory management

Question:
Hi,
I have created a material - material type "hawa" (traded goods). When I try creating a PO for this material without specifying the account assignment category, I get an error message saying "Account Assignment mandatory for this material". Further drilling down, the error message provides me with the input "There is no provision for value based inventory management for this material type in this plant. Account assignment is thus necessary."
Could you please let me know how to make the material type "hawa" relevant for value based inventory management for a particular plant so that I do not have to specify the account assignment category? Thanks!
Rgds,

Answer:
HI John doe
Go to IMG customizng SPRO
Logistic -General--Material Master--Basic settings--Material type--Define attributes of Material type
Select HAWA material type and check whether for your plant(valuation area) value updation is checked.
Hope this helps

Answer:
Hi,
The problem was due to the fact that the 'Value update' indicator for your plant has not been flagged for your HAWA material type. Go to Transaction OMS2 and select 'HAWA' material type, then double click on the 'Quantity/Value Updating' section where you have to flag the 'Value update' indicator for your plant.
Cheers,
HT
