Alternative Units of Measure in P.O - S.O.S
Hello Sapfans,
I have the following problem. In my organization materials are basically managed in M2 and ordered in ST. The problem is that this ratio can very often change. I see that in the P.O the field 'Order unit <-> Stoc Unit' is display and cannot be opened via the field customizing functionality. One of my collegues suggested that we open this field through change in progam and we actually did it. Could you see potential problems with this?
I am going to perform multiple test to check the result but it would be quite helpful if I can have your input.
We have tried the batch alternative unit of measure but there are problems with rounding etc.
Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!
If one would try to do the same in my company then I would say:
Only over my dead body!
With my 7 years experience in SAP I would spent at least a full week of serious testing and would ask SAP and still would have a goose skin for weeks after setting such thing productive.
Hi Karen,
You can maintain the "Variable Order Unit" field in the Material Master, so that you can order a unit of measure different from the managed unit of measure. However, I think there is some priority you might have to take care of which I can't remember off hand.
You can refer to the online help - Purchasing and look for order unit. Hope it helps.
Hi Mei,
yes I am ware of the functionality but the problem still remains in terms that you can not alter the ratio that has to be declared in the Units of Measure (Alternative Units of Measure) at the material master. Although you declare in Purchasing view that there may be variable units of purchasing we still need to decalre them as well as the ratio.
At the point of P.O creation at tab 'Quatities/weights' there is the Order Unit <==> Stock Unit which is display. This is the field that we 'opened' and up to know test has gone fine.
I will contact SAP too,
Thnaks for the advice!
totally agree with Svetja. that is a very tough call you just made. you can address your by activating Batch Specific Units of Measure (Product Units) and maintaining ratios per batch as a characteristic value. refer to > Logistics General > Batch Management > page 104 onwards.
also try to use the search engine as we debated this issue several times before. good luck.
