Question:
When I creat a PR, it always copy the basic unit of measure in material master and it can not be changed. Can I use an alternative unit in PR?

If you create a purchase requisition (Transaction ME51, ME51N), the base unit of measure will always be copied in the quantity unit field of the item (EBAN-MEINS) for an item with material number, even if you have maintained an order unit for the material in question in the material master.
Cause and preconditions
It is programmed this way (and not an error). The base unit of measure field from the material master (which is in MT06E-MEINS) is transferred to EBAN-MEINS.
Solution
There is none. This functionality has not been planned and will not be implemented in later releases either.

Hi, You can use alternative units of measure by setting up alternative UOMs on the Material master. (TR MM01)
Select Additional Data (top left) select Tab "Units of Measure" and you can set up 1 Box = 20pc etc.... You can also set up a Purchaing Unit of measure on the info record which will allow you to buy in a diffent UOM. Production may like to work in PC's, however, procurement may prefer to by them in Boxes!
You could go down the classification route also, which I have done in the past, however, can be rather messy! (batch class)
