Question:
Can anyone give me a layman's definition between a stock transport order and a stock transfer order? When would you use one vs the other?

Hi SAPling,
my understanding is that a stock transport involves a purchase order,
while a stock transfer doesn't.
Using a purchase order allows the order process to be managed easily.
Deliveries can be created from the purchase order so the despatch
process is the same as for customer deliveries. Purchase orders
contain movement history.
On the down side, normal purchasing master data is required -
material master, source list, etc.
