I tried archiving a PO using MM_EKKO and the log seems to show that it's sucessful but when I go to display the PO, it's still there.
What is the possible reason why it hasn't archived?
I made sure that the test run was deselected.
Do I need to delete the PO line first before archiving?

It is possible to sperate the deletion from the writing.
Go SARA, object MM_EKKO
click Customizing button
Excute technical setting below Archiving object-specific Customizing:
In the middle of the screen you can read about the deletion jobs.
check where the radio button is. If it is set to Not scheduled, then you need to click the Delete button in the initial screen of SARA with object MM_EKKO to create a deletion variant and to execute it.

I used transaction ME98 and I think it may have to do with my user id not having access to delete program.
Can you summarize the actions I need to do in order to archive sucessfully?
Under the actions, I noticed that there is the archieve button - which I created and the log shows sucessful...although the PO still remains in SAP.
Do I need to run the delete program to remove the PO from being able to display in transaction ME53N?

Answer:
Of course you need to run the deletion program to erase the documents which are written to an archvie from your tables.
However, you will always be able to view the archived documents with ME23N. As this transaction can read from an archive.
It is recommended from SAP to use SARA instead of the old archiving transactions.
