Question:
Hello,
I have defined a new material type which is valuated in moving average price. I have purchase price different from moving average price but at the time goods receipt, the moving average price is not changing as well the total quantity & value is not updated in material master. Does anyone know the reason.

The price is not updated if the goods receipt is non-valuated. A goods receipt is non-valuated if the indicator for GR non-valuated is set in the purchase order. If this is the case, then the values are updated at invoice receipt.
If the quantity is not updating, then your purchase order is created with an account assignment, means it is consumed while doing the GR, nothing goes to stock then.

Additionally, if you are ordering item (with material ID) but with account assignment category, then upon GR posting, both quantity and value will not be updated at all to the stock account and stock quantity.

Then check in Transaction OME9 and see what you have defined in your 'Consumption Posting'. Was it set as 'E'?.

Thanks for the response and I found the issue, there is a customization for maintaining requirement class "40" where for account assignment "E", the valuation was set to each sales order (M) which I changed it to valuation with
out sales order reference (A), then GR's start updating material master.
