I wish someone could explain in simple way what is dependent requirement and what is independent requirement?

Hi,
For better explanation, you can post this inquiry to PP forum. Basically, in practice, the production and/or maintenance of finished product and/or equipment respectively requires the hierarchical foundation setting for better material requirement plannings. For instance, to produce an equipment would requires various spare parts, CKD, SKD etc... Since there have been multi-level hierarchy from the top (equipment) down to the bottom (spare parts), SAP differentiates the requirement planning as dependent requirements and independent requirements whereupon independent requirements are referring to those requirements for LEVEL-0 item (equipment) for which the planning of requirements will not be subject to any other planning while for the case of dependent requirements (spare parts), the requirements are planned as the result of other planning of the higher level.
