Answer:
With material ledger, every material would has records for every transaction that affect the account. This ledger could be used as a basis to calculate the correct future value of the material. This method lies between standard price and moving average price method.
Want to know how to implement it, RTFM! SAP already provide help for Material Ledger.

Is it similar to reconciliation accounts with customers and the customers being sub ledger accounts?
