Which transaction/tab will display any Long texts against a material, assuming that the material has one ?

Answer:
Assuming you are talking about text defaulted on PR/ PO from Material Master, check Purchase Order Text view of material master with MM03. There may be additional text in master- clicking Additional Data, check Basic Data Text/ Inspection Text/ Internal Comment.
