Question:
Hi
I have managed to get batch determination to work sweetly for SD deliveries. I am doing it based on FIFO and it works and splits without any intervention...nice !
However, when I set it up for material movements...say 309 for example, I manage to get it to work bit it only seems to do half the job. Why do I have to do * in the batch field and then click on the copy icon? there must be a way of automating this...any ideas?

I have not tried it myself, but you might want to test my proposal. Let me know if it works.
IMG> Logistics - General > Batch Management > Batch Determination and Batch Check > Strategy Types > Define Inventory Management Strategy Types
In the detail auf the strategy there is a box called "Dialog batch determination".
If batch determination is to be run in the background, do not set the indicator.
If batch determination is to be run in the foreground, i.e. if you want
to be able to control the results of batch determination, set the
indicator.
I have the impression that not setting this indicator might do the job

Thanks for testing, Now I think I will change this for me as well.
according to SAP documentation the asterisk might be mandatory, while only SD has full automatic batch determination
