How to know about the obsolete material
Dear sappers,
I want to know how to upload the (opening balances) transaction data from the legacy system, that I can also print the obsolete material list.
any idea or solution?

Hi Tina,
In all of our Group Companies, we have used LSMW to upload the Excel-based Material Master Data with opening balance. To run the Obsolete List report / Slow-Moving Item Report, we have defined and then, uploaded as well the field which kept the information relating to the last GI date (Goods Issue Date) on which the obsolete parts calculation is based. Furthermore, a customized ABAP program was also developed for this particular requirement.

If you need a report with date field for legacy data, solution proposed by HT will work fine.
An alternate is to create logical storage location (Obsolete Stores, for instance) and transfer obsolete material to this location. This can help in restricted authorisation for use of obsolete items. Any standard report for sloc stock will give you stock status.
