Question:
I am trying to install SAP portal but one of the prerequstes is to install SAPJSEE 6.10 I try to unack it using the sapcar file, becuase the file is in as a sar file. How can I install this program to get on the portal road, adn do ya'll have a better way than sap's to install portal?
Answer:
First you need to down a utility from SAP - SAPCAR
Copy the File SAPJ2EE....SAR to a folder under the root directory, also the utility SAPCAR.
From the command line - execute
SAPCAR -xvf SAPJ2EE(This will be the file name)

The install guide from SAP for Portal is quite good, there are a lot or pre-requisites before you start though mainly in the software patch area. The guide relies a lot on the latest OSS Notes (as with any SAP product install) but the portal area is quite good
