Aside from an instance where a "Where-Used-List" is run in the background, SAP does not alert the user when a background job has finished. At least not on our system. Is there a way to get the alert to work for all jobs run in the background?

How about when the background job is in CANCELED status? How to automate the alert?
Answer:
There is no way to do that in the standard. In order to control your jobs, get alerts and so on you should purchase a batch scheduler, for example Tivoli, Maestro, etc.
