Hi,
Assuming that your have a NIC card installed, you probably need to change your Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties setting from "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" to "Use the following IP address."
Go to Start, Settings, Network and Dial-up connection. Then right-click on the "Local LAN Connection," Properties, then select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and then click on the "Properties" button. Then you should see the "Use the following IP address" option, and a place to enter your own (make one up if you like, I used 1.1.1.1 because I felt like it.) IP address. Also enter that sub-mask, 255.255.255.0
Just be sure that all the PCs you connect up to your home LAN also start with 1.1.1, like 1.1.1.2 and 1.1.1.3
This note is specific to Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.
Good luck
