In Cost Center assignment is it wise to assign cost center to Departments or Positions or Holders

cost centers are generally assigned to positions or orgnanizational units.....
holders are not assigned to cost centers.. they generally inherit from the position or the organizational unit they are assigned to...

you can assign CC to org. units or positions via OM, as said. If you need to assign them to persons, try IT 0027. You may need to adjust some programs or reports. Good luck!

we assign to org unit and position. org unit is the default, and the assignment to position will override. this is good if you have many people in one org unit with the same cost center, but need to override the cost center for only a few.

Hi there,
As the number of org units < positions < holders, it's best to assign at org unit and enjoy the inheritance feature. Exceptions to be maintained individually to be kept at minimal. This will make maintenance easy, especially when org-wide change is required.

It depends on user usage. You may use cost distribution infotype 0027 to divide cost incurred by individual. The cost centers are assigned at holder (Person), where as you canassigned to Position or to a Org nit depend on your requirement, The hold will inherit the cost center from such assignements
