Last Kernel downloads

Question:
Hi Basis. I never do a kernel Upgrade, and I have one question: I go to service.sap.con/patches, and choose "Kernel 4.6D 32Bits". There is a lot of ".CAR", and I want know what's the file that I have to download? Only the last number of patch (1393/1395)???
And I have to download the Database dependent kernel files too, right?
Anybody can help me???
Kisses!
Laura
Answer:
Hi Laura,
If is the first time you update kernel, download all files that matches your os/bit under DB indepentent and DB specific. I suggest you read the sapnote 19466 (318846 may help too). Make a backup of exe directory before update. Maintain a logfile to register all files you applied so the next times you need update only the newer ones.
hope this helps (and your kisses are welcome!!!)
Rodrigo.
Answer:
Thanks Rodrigo!!! So can I download all that files and compare the date with the active kernel, and replace oldest files?
Thanks, and kisses for you!!
Laura
Answer:
Yes laura, but if you find files in Sapnet you donīt have in your system see info (and related notes) because they can be needed or not.
One advise: To prevent problems find notes on sapnet about needed Operating System patches for your specific os/db and update them before SAP kernel files.
(just one more kiss and I will go to do this updating for you onsite!!! )
Rodrigo.
