Question:
I used to open/close periods directly in Production client at another company. With the current company, I have to do it in Dev and then transport it to Production.
Is there a way to turn off the requirement for the change request so that I can make the change directly?

Using SCC4, you need to set your client to Production. This setting opens up some tables in Production.
Answer:
You can open/Close periods without changing the client settings in Production. There is an oss note which address this issue. Basically, you change the table maintenance screen generation of the V_T001B table. Please make sure that security is NOT compromised by restricting access to S_TABU_DIS FC31.
