Employee Control Record

Question:
First time post...
Am not a developer... This is probably an ignorant question.
I'm looking at table T588D - field IGMOD. Understand that IGMOD can contain a value derived from the Personnel Control Record. I've looked at the implementation documentation for 4.6C but it doesn't tell me what this is. Sure, it's maintained by transaction PA03 but beyond that. I've looked at posts on this forum and other boards, but I can't quite find what I'm looking for (or, perhaps, that explains it in terms I understand).
Basically, I'm trying to write a specification for reporting of IT0000 plus the other ITs that get touched by the Actions our implementation uses. I hope that my understanding what the IGMOD values correspond to, I can ignore certain actions.
Answer:
Is it Employee Group from IT0001?
Answer:
The value of the field IGMOD is set by feature IGMOD (see transaction PE03).
Basically, you can control which infotypes are to be maintained within a Personnel Action, dependent on the type of employee you are processing. (e.g. you could maintain different infotypes for an employee in different employee subgroups, personnel areas, etc).
Answer:
Mike,
Thanks for that. It's a bit clearer now. I've not got PA03 access. Is there anywhere that I see the results of doing IGMOD? I've only got SE16 access. Our basis people are paranoid about giving anyone other than developers access to things. Despite the fact that I just want to look, not make any changes. And no one who did the original SAP HR implementation is still around...
Answer:
It locks the personnel numbers, for which payroll should be run, against master data changes that affect the payroll past or present.
It locks the payroll for the period during which payroll-relevant changes are made to the master data for the personnel numbers being processed.
