Appraisals in ESS and MSS

Question:
Dear All
We are on ERP2005 ECC6, although we have not yet configured MSS. I understand that appraisals are available via MSS. What we would like is for them to be made available via both MSS and ESS ie: the appraisee undertakes a self assessment of their performance under ESS and it is sent to the appraiser to continue via MSS. Is it possible to do this?
Thanks DCoutts
Answer:
hey it can be done,.. but it will take me a month plus to give u the exact details coz I havent yet done it ... am about to start off on the same from next week,.. and hopefully by same time next month i will have ure answer ...
having said that,... I can still guide u on how it can be made,.. there is a std iview in mss called appraisals which u can call in mss for ure reportees,...
while that takes care of ure mss part, for ess u can actually call a sap transaction in ess, the access to which u will control via securities,... and then the appraisee can fill his part of the data
then again u have the choice of mbo and normal appraisals these days,.. normal appraisals is what I was talking till now,.. I am helping one of my team member to set up a working prototype of mbo currently which we plan to demo on the portal (we r also on ecc6/ep7 here)...
so hold on,.. a lil patience and i shall get back to u soon.
cheers

Answer:
Hi Count
That is really appreciated. We currently use standard appraisals but looks as if we will have to use/move to MBO so any advice you can impart on that would be great. Look forward to hearing from you in approx a month - and good luck with it.
cheers

Answer:
here goes,...
regular appraisals: u have a create and edit appraisal transactions, which can be called from portal as transaction iviews,... but
a. u will have to create a user-exit for both of them which will
1. check if the user invoking the iview is a manager or not
2. if its a manager then restrict his 'view' of employees only to his direct reportees
3. this works well for appcreate t-code. havent tried the edit code though,.. structural auths somehow dint work here hence the user exit.
now coming to mbo,.... hmmm u will have to wait I am trying to make it work on the r3 front right now,.. but for having em on portal all the iviews will have to be developed if u ask me,... let me succeed in making mbo work in r3 and then I will post some more.
hope the above helps,.....
cheers
