System copy

Question:
Hi all,
We have a R/3 system 46C/OS NT/Oracle 9206, and during this last month we have received many system alert, and the OS manager propose the use a new server, because for this one there's no support...so, it's not the problem. So, my question is how can we generate this new system because the current Oracle version is 9206, and the installation kit use Oracle 817...
** Install Central instance and DB instance and upgrade Oracle ?
** Install Oracle 9206, and use a updgrade Kit to copy the DB ?
If you can give me your feedback...thanks in advance.

Answer:
Hello,
this is what I would do ( if I understand correctly your question)
1. install oracle 9.2. and patch ( get it from SAP if you do not have a copy)
2. install SAP using sap note 147243 (system copy)
3 Restore data files from tape as per note 147243.
let me know if this helps or if you more questions,
pinch
Answer:
Hi Pinch,
Thanks for your reply. I've prepared the new kernel based on note 578004, and Oracle 9206 installed and patched. The next step is to apply note 147243, as recommended by you, and the new server has another name and another IP address, do you think that I've to prepare the source system with the export (control files)...and shutdown it, and change the server name for the new one with the IP address ?
