SAP Query performance problems?

Question:
Hi all
In my previous contracts, we were allways advised against the use of SAP Query in favour of BW. The reason was systems perfomance problems when end users would build wrong queries.
I was told there was a position paper or SAPNote in which SAP was advising the same.
In my current assigment the customer still wants to go for SQVI etc.
Questions:
1 does anyone know were to find the SAP position about this?
2 what are your own view, experiences in this?
Answer:
Since SQVI / SAP Query allows users to join tables together in any combination and then choose selections based only on the inclusion of those fields within the query (no indication of index use, much less encouragement) it is generally unadvisable to allow users without some basic analysis knowledge to build queries.
It's the same as any DB tool, in the hands of those trained to use it well = good, in the hands of those without that information = bad.
Not sure about an official SAP position, but that's always been mine.
