Question:
Hi, we wish to refresh/replace our DB with a heterogeneous DB export
from our other system.
We are using the System Copy/Migration method and using the database independent method.
The export has been performed and we have a MIGRATION_EXPORT file.
As our target system already exists and we are replacing it, should we delete the database first then perform the installation of the DB instance via SAPinst as if it is a new DB, or, is there a way to copy over the top of the existing DB and just replace it?
Our Target is windows 2003 server, ECC5 and DB2

Answer:
Source is AIX, DB2 and ECC5.
When I did the original install I used a migration export DVD to create the database instance. They've sent me the same again albeit an updated version so I was wondering if I just delete the existing DB and start again from SAPinst with the Database Instance installation using the latest export.

You should just run SAPinst and load the database by pointing to the exported database files. SAPinst will skip certain steps.

I get several errors in the log files during the DB load which read like this example:

Yes. Existing database needs to be dropped and removed first. But all software can stay.
