Learning new module - use IMG or direct tables
Curios as to how most people learn a new module. Use the IMG or try to understand the tables behind the IMG?
Take the SAP course, then follow the IMG.
Both wrong,
work in a productive environment which uses the module, is the fastes way to learn a new module, preferrably in a service management environment with many clients.

Don't think it is the only or best way to learn, ie. working in a PROD environment. There are different ways of learning, SAP courses, learning on the job from a consultant or knowledgable colleague, etc. etc. Just depends on your situation really.
If you are lucky enough, your company might have a sandbox is which you can happily mess around with the config without fear of stuffing things up. Like in my present company, our sandbox gets refreshed every 3 months from the development system, and so you can configure, play, try things out to your hearts content. It's ANOTHER way of learning.
