Message logging

Question:
I recently saw an advertisment for a help desk tool that allowed help desk personnel to see all the transactions, messages and message values a user had received.
The tool claims that it does not require any system modifications.
I understand how they can pick up transaction data but I don't undertand where they would read messages and message values by user. Any ideas?
I apologizeif this is redundant. I did a search and couldn't find anything.
Answer:
Is it possible that logging messages is only in recent versions?
Answer:
Hello,
I guess most of this information can be obtained through the
Security Audit Log(SM19/20) and System Log - SM21.

Answer:
I agree for transactions but for messages? SM21 only shows system messages not application messages or has something changed that I am not aware of?
Answer:
Transaction SLG1, possibly some user exits, and also how about RZ20 table monitoring?.
I suspect there is a user exit involved in the standard user interface that can trap this. An exit is not a modification.
