Active job running and running
Hi,
When a program is submitted in the background, is there a way to redirect it to another application server? My problem is this.
Someone executed the program in the background. The job kept running and running for awhile with a Active status. I was aksed to take a look at the job. I checked SM50 and saw no background job running from there. I then went to SM37, highlighted the job name, went to Job and then Check status; the message saids "0 jobs checked and 0 jobs corrected". Usually if the job was running and had a background process running in SM50 it would say "1 jobs checked and 0 jobs corrected". I checked SM12 and the locks on the tables were still locked and not yet released.
The backgroung process couldn't have been deleted because when I did the Check status there was no popup that saids the job got deleted and whether did I want to cancel it.
What do you suppose had happened? And how can this be avoided in production??
Can a user have mutiple accounts on different application servers where he could log in and submit the job, in which I could not see the process running if I had logged in another application server?? Even if the job was runnnig from a different appplication server, it should have completed in a timely manner.
I haven't encountered this because I have been very careful about it but some #@)(*#!% wanted to test my stupidity. Pardon my language.
Any suggestions??
Thanks a million
The background job may be redirected to other server. Try to use transaction SM51 which lists all the servers.
Is it possible to manually redirect it or the system does it by the way it manages resources on the system? If there is a way to manually redirect it, could you help on the steps??
Thanks
when it's running it's too late to switch sevrers.
when planning, field "Target server" usually does the trick
