Client Doubt !
Hi
Since i am new to ABAP, I want to know normally during the implementation...if i am creating new report or any new object's will i log on to the client server i.e. I mean to say the client who is implementing or will i log on to development server of my company and latter transport...
if its development server of my company what server's will my company have ie will it have both test and development....(this all is in case of Offshore)
hi,
normally , in case of offshore , server will be somewhere and u will be working somewhere. normally, there is a testing , development and production . it was depends on what sort of landscaping u have.
suppose : 100 is development client.
200 is testing client.... and 300 is production client.........
so all the development will be carried out in 100 client, later it will be released from 100 to 200 and 300. in 200 testing will be done. if it is fine then it will be transported to 300.
300 client will have actual live (real business data) data.
i hope this will helop u????????
Cheers.....

Your client will have 3 instances (DEV, TST & PRD), within these there may be multiple clients, or there may only be one.
In order to develop remotely you will probably need to log into the Development box (via SAP Gui) and work within their environment and they will then handle transport within their landscape to TST & PRD. However, different clients and consultancies have different ways of working.
I would ask this question of your team leader / project manager, as the rules for what you are going to be doing may be different to the experiences of others on this forum.

Hi...
So if company 'X' is implementing SAP in Company 'Y' as per you company 'Y' will have all three PRD,TST,DEV. and I will be loging on to 'Y's DEV ....By installing SAP GUI on my system
As I said above, that's the way most consultancies handle it - but there are always exceptions to every rule......
