I a doing a mod and I want to hide a field on an infotype 1755 selection screen, but I don't seem able to do this via SE51. Any ideas? (Thanks in advance).

I have not done a full blown HR implementation but I've done quite a bit on adding new infotypes etc. Have you try replacing the standard infotype with your own copy? With this, you do not need to do a CORE MOD to SAP code. May or may not work though.. read more about adding new or replacing standard infotypes from SAP online doc.
While you're on the SAP Online Doc, you may want to check if the screen can be controlled by infotype screen control (table T588M??).

Sorry, couldn't help further .. my access to HR development environment has been blocked since I've joined another project .. Seems HR project is really particular who has access to even their dev system.. gosh..!!
