Alpha Boiler -V- Vallant Boiler

Question:
Hi All,
I've read previous posts were both of these are rated.
I need a new boiler and the plumber coming tonight has told me he thinks Alpha are the best. I've only ever had Vallant and I need to know whether to take that leap of faith and go for an Alpha?
Thanks
Answers:
The trouble is that there has been so many takeovers and merging of the manufacturers that there is no guarantee that a reliable boiler make of 'yesteryear' is reliable now - and vice versa.
It seems that the majority of problems, and expense, with modern condensing boilers are caused by the electronics, as opposed to the 'plumbing/gas' components.
These electronic PCBs are 'bought in'components and are fitted to several makes.
So a 'leap of faith', as you put it, is what we all have to take!!
Answers:
I replaced an old gas boiler with a new Vaillant condensing boiler.
The only comment I would have is to hear one runnimg before you buy one.
These new condensing boilers can be a bit more noisy than the old style boilers.
Noise may not matter but if it is in a bedroom or room that is in use a lot it can be a bit intrusive.
