a 16yr old and Benefits.

Question:
A neighbour of mine has a pregnant daughter, she is due in Aug and wants to go onto 6th for college in Sept. She is at present sitting her GCSE's. As we chatted it became obvious they have no idea of any money/benefit she can claim. She seemed very very upset to start off 'cold'. I have started an internet search for her to gain info but have come across a wall and would like to ask what is she entitled to.
I have downloaded the Sure Start Maternity Grant form for her.
If anyone knows what she is entitled to it would help enormously.
TIA
Answers:
She'll obviously get child benefit for her baby, and if mum is getting child benefit for HER it will continue until she's 19 if she stays in education! Strange isn't it? Her mum can also still get Child Tax Credit till she's 19, and daughter can apply for EMA for herself. She could probably get childcare help with Tax credits, or through the college. They will know and help, just ask!
