Help me before the computer goes out of the window!

Question:
Hi

I'm currently sat at mt Dad's computer. I'm going to thrownit out of the window and back my car over it in a minute!

The icons, writing and everything else is absolutely enormous. At the moment these words are a centimetre in height and this reply box is filling the entire screen.

I've done 'view' and changed the text size... I've been into the control panel and looked at everything I can find to sort it out.

The MSE Forum has no boxes around the text and the picture of martin is showing as green, orange and grey. The top banners is a mucky green with white writing There are several icons on the desktop which are grainy and pics on the internet are also grainy and in odd colours.

I've tried to print screen so that I can copy into paint and show you all just how utterly awful the display is but in the Start menu there is no accessories and therefore no paint

This is an old PC running windows 98, he has AVG, Spy and Adaware, Ccleaner and everything else I told him to install... though he tells me that he got rid of one as it kept flashing and making the screen freeze.

He's just gone from dial up to NTL BB and this is when the problems have started.

In all.... my Dad has been pressing buttons..... and I would like you to fix it ... don't ask for much do I?
Answers:
Graphics problem, . Try right click the desktop and click properties and then settings. Adjust the slider bar to 1024 x 768 pixels if you can.
Answers:
Ok, have done that and the desktop wallpaper has reappeared, the text size has reduced a bit but it's still pretty big.

Any blocks of colour are pixelated so the box above this reply box which says 'reply to thread' is white with yellow, red and blue pixels This is black and white
Answers:
Try reinstalling the graphics driver.
Answers:
... how does one do that?

This is a pc that was given to him with just a windows disk and nothing else, it already had things installed so I don't have any further software for it. (and I'm a bit of a numpty too!)

Try a system restore .This is how you do it in 98 .go into dos mode .Type scan reg you will get a screen saying create and view backups . view backup and Pick a date before the problems started and reboot
Answers:
I believe this will only restore the registry and not any other changes to the system. You need something like GoBack installed for a full system restore.

Try this, In Display Properties, where you can change the resolution change the colour quality to 32bit, also download and run this click just below the words lates version located at the top left, then click on the multimedia tab when running and find the graphics driver, once found just register here for free and find your driver and then download it for free then install it.
Just to make sure it is the driver missing have a look in device manager to see in anything is showing up in their.

I wouldn't know a graphics driver if it smacked me in the gob So you have downloaded PC Wizard and now have it running all you need to do is jot down the type of driver,
What you have to do is click on the PC wizard Icon that looks like a monitor with a paintbrush and then on the right click on Video card, now when you know the video card write it down then go to and download and install the driver.

Ooops, the link I found was for V1.00.28 which it claims was the last version, but your version is later.
Spacker's link is the later version, but you don't need to sign-up, you can opt to view ads.
Did you click to save the file? Or run it?
