Question:
Which one would you buy and why
Answers:
As i have a 9 year old I am buying the Nintendo Wii as he has hot the DS lite and Gamecube and I feel the games are more suited to the younger ones. Mario, Rayman etc
However If it was for me I would buy the PS3 I just like the games better, more of a variety of genres.
Answers:
I agree I think the Wii interface, controls and games are more geared towards kids. I;d say the PS3 is more geared towards adults due to the price tag, hd capabilities and blu ray drive - i mean most 8 year olds dont care that it can play Hd dvds or that it can process X frames per second. I think the 360 is more of a compromise betweent hem both on price and graphics more aimed at teens.
thoughts?

I just got a 360 I wouldnt have bought one myself but Tesco gave it to me and It has some really decent fuctions like streaming media from my PC and playing through the xbox so now no need to burn cds to play in the house. I have only played Lego Starwars but it is really easy to play, looks fantastic and sounds brilliant in 5.1 surround sound.
I have always bought Sony consoles due to the huge support for games everyone has made them for the PS2 and the playstation and now the PSP. some of the technology being used in the PS3 us going to be out of this world but we should now start hearing what gamers think now they have been released over in Japan.
Nintendo Wii i like the route nintendo have gone, with the DS and Wii. Making the games more interactive by changeing the waypeople play the games. I just hope it works the way everyone says it will, playing baseball with a bat or Starwars games using a lightsabre and waveing the controler about is going to be something else, ok graphics and sound may not look as good as the PS3 or xbox 360 but who cares nintendo have always concentrated on playability of games.
I would buy a Wii just so I can look a prat waveing the remote arround, I will proberbly have a PS3 when the price is affordable, the release price is stupid and I think will be its downfall. ohh and the fact it isnt released untill next year.
as I was typeing this I have discovered where all my money has gone, I have a few gameboys (original, coloured case and the coulour one), Nintendo DS, Gamecube. Sega Mega drive, Playstation, 2 PS2's (fat and thin), PSP and my latest the xbox 360. I expect I will have a Wii and a PS3 at some pont.

I am not sure which to go for but it will be either the xbox 360 or the PS3. Either way t will be bought under the guise of education for our daughter. I will probably wait until the PS3 is released and await Microsfts response.

The wii. Not just because of the economics - I'd need to win the lottery before I bought a PS3 - but because Nintendo have the games that have been classics and my favourites. Zelda, Mario and Warioware.
I've considered the 360, but I smell a price drop for it after Xmas [just a guess], so I'd wait for that. The PS3 is not only too expensive, but it doesn't have any 'must-buy' games that interest me [though I may change that opinion once Gran Turismo comes out]. Plus I have a Gamecube, so the Wii's backwards compatibility works out handily.

I've got a 360 - which I like a lot - and plan on getting a Wii (whee!) at some point. The 360 has surprised me with just how good it is, especially now I've got a HDTV for it.
I won't be bothering with a PS3 - too expensive and it looks ridiculous. I previously owned a PS and a PS2 (pre-ordered, no less) but both went wrong within a couple of years - trouble loading discs.

Definetely the 360

We have pre ordered a Wii for the kids ,its reviews like that swung me....and the ad for the marvel game in the corner I cant wait.........you can also buy a basic Xbox 360 and still not have spent as much as you would on the forthcoming Ps3

Oh, I'm getting a Wii! I'm very excited about it. Nintendo just has the feel I like and is the only company bringing out a new console that is genuinely different to its predecessor. ps3 and xbox360 are just upgrades of the older models and will just have the same sorts of games but more expensive.

All I can say is that Sony servers are full of cheats and glitchers within certain games if u play online, XBox servers are meant to be really healthy as you pay for the service.
I would go to a good shop and demo all 3 consoles.

Another thing to consider is that Sony and Microsoft consoles break a LOT. I have never known anyone to have a problem with a Nintendo console. This is something to bear in mind and certainly don't lose your receipt!

Dont like the motion control on the WII so that is an immediate non-starter
Personally I would go for a PS3 (subject to price which I havent looked at) as this would give me a Blu-Ray player whilst the whole BR/ DVD-HD competition goes on

My boys 9,7 and 4 love nintendo and so we are buying the Wii (if we can get one!) They love all the mario, pokemon games you can get.
My husband tried out the PS3 yesterday as he was involved in the production of a chip for it at work. I'll get him to post on a personal review later if you like.
Cost is also a consideration too as the PS3 will be a lot more expensive than the Wii.

Which ever can run homebrew first is the priority for me.
I've got a 360 at the moment. Very happy with it. I think the Wii will be the main contender. Not sure about the PS3, I think it'll sell well, mainly due to fans of the PS2. Will have to wait and see how it does. The 360 has a years head start with regards to games, and the community trying to mod it.

PS3 all the way for me kids! I've been intently reading up about the hype relating to its release in Japan a few days ago and America today and things are looking good for the console! The 60Gb version of the american console is on ebay US for $8,100 in some cases! Now thats an effective business! They're lucky they got Christmas nutters bidding on their goods!
I wouldnt say I hate the other consoles, but as a more mature gamer, I'd have to pass on the Wii (just the name says it all!) and I'm not sure whether I trust the 360 yet, so will be sticking with the PS3, cos it looks sleek and visually appealing, is crammed full of goodies (wi-fi, net browsing, Blu-ray, HD graphics etc) and is aimed toward a more mature, experienced gamer!
Maybe we should start a thread of how to get these things legally in this country, and not pay over the odds like in America, as the waiting period is March 2007, and I'm afraid I might just burst
