Hmm, well if you are looking for a simple site you need to -
1) Get a host for your web-site. Your ISP will probably offer this for free, at least for a very basic set-up (i.e. no database for the web-site).
2) Create the web-site content as a collection of HTML & image files. Lots of programs will help you create web pages (Dreamweaver being the top-end, your domain company may even offer an online wizard to knock something up).
3) Publish all the content (using FTP probably) to the web host
4) Use the administrator services provided by the ukreg.com to make your domain record to refer to the location where the web-site is hosted.
5) You have a web-site!
Answers:
Next she will need some web space, if she doesn't already have it.
You can pay for space or get it free, either way it will cost to transfer the domain name to the space.
What sort of web site does she want? For basic ones free space usually does, but if it is for ecommerce she will be better off with paid hosting.
After that she will need an HTML editor and an ftp program. There are many free ones around, but it depends on how skilled she is.

Hi Robert
The first thing to do is tell us which ISP your GF is with, it may provide free web space that will be suitable.
How many videos and what size will they be? Free web space is usually very small, so if she is planning on uploading a lot of videos free space may not be enough.
How are you planning on taking payments, or have you not got that far yet?

I'm thinking of uploading several little 5 min movies weekly and maybe the payment might not be so important asmaybe i could make my money back via advertising! What is ISP and GF? These are the names i am dealing with if it maybe one of these:
1.UKReg.com
2. Nominet
Are they these?
Answers:
Hi Robert
GF is your girlfriend and ISP is your Internet Service Provider, Tiscali, AOL, BT etc.
Do you, or your GF have a paypal account? Paypal payments are really easy to set up, paypal creates the code for you and you just paste it into your web page.
Don't rely on advertising to make you money, it won't. You need a lot of visitors before you can make money advertising, and getting people to visit your web site is a lot harder than setting it up.

IMHO, if you are planning an e-commerce web site that takes on-line payment (presumably credit cards etc.) you should be talking to a professional web-designer and hosting company to get some quotes to set this up.
Answers:
if you are looking at pay per view video etc then you are going to need a fair bit of bandwidthas its not the size of each video that is being hosted that costs, but the number of times its downloaded x its size.
As to the making of the site you are going to need something far more complex than a simple bit of html - the honest answer is, if you don't even know what to do after buying a domain name then you won't be able to do this yourselves as you are going to need html, css, sql, php knowledge - if you don't do this properly the site will seem amateurish at best and at worst people will think its a con either way you will get few or no paying customers.
Answers:
Thanks for your honesty i dont want it to be a pro site just abit of a laugh and if i can make money from it great if not.. well at least i tried too!
If anyone is willing to walk me through it step by step please help i need it lol.
I have no knowledge of website design and really need someones help
cheers

Look at getting a host with - this will run scripts that will enable you to load galleries and e-commerce pre-written free open source applications -
There are various galleries that may be able upload videos here are some tutorials
This route will save you programming - you just have to learn an application to begin with... load your template - pictures - videos - read the support forums

once you have all the host sorted, i surgest getting a free template off the net and with a simple designer tool (search for 'free website design software' on google etc...). Open the index.html file from the template package and begin editing.
OR, if you are interested in having your site designed professionaly (with coding) i know a very good person to do it.
he is a small website based, and he charges next to nothing for great looking websites. PM me if you are interested and i will pass you on to him.
(he is in the US by the way, buwith paypal you can oviously pay him etc..)

I'd recommend that instead of hosting videos on your own site, you host them on a service like or . Then you can use the <embed> code from YouTube to stick the video on your site - this is the easiest, simplest and fastest method.
For web-space, I would recommend that you use - they give you a WHOPPING 300mb of free webspace (which you can link up with your domain) as well as a dedicated forum which provides help/support. Their hosting comes built-in with Fantastico which can give you really easy ways to set up e-commerce (money transfer).
Another method you might want to use for payments is - this is ideal if you are going to be taking donations to support your website.

Don't forget to look at non-UK web hosters. Mine is with Startlogic and they always offer intro deals. Typical is around US$6 a month for a 2 yr deal, free setup and free domain name. Massive server space (50Gb to 60Gb) and massive bandwidth (monthly download around 60Gb to 750Gb per month), add to this Front page support, unlimited Email accounts, the list goes on.
An advantage of these people is that they are Arizona based, and if you need help in the UK evenings, they are normally awake and working due to the time difference. My site is very reliable and although it's early days, I have only just (after two years) managed to get the site traffic meter up from 1% to 2% (of 60Gb) a month.
I've no connection with these guys, just an average user & MSE'er looking for a good deal, and they are very good so far.
My site is designed in Frontpage (all the techies laugh out loud) but it's dead easy to use and gives great looking sites almost instantly. No fiddling with HTML unless you want to. Having said this, Startlogic will also provide a ready-made template to allow easy set-up, but I wanted a few fancier things than I could do with this.
One thing that you might also be interested in is that you can add e-commerce to your site (payments) built into by Startlogic. I think that this uses a USA bank though, so may be a little fiddly to do UK payments (well, I've never used it in anger yet).
