Question:
Hi there,
I have a problem with an unfinalised DVD Camcorder disk that won't play back on anything basically as it was interupted in the middle of finalization.
Someone on here kindly recommended ISO Buster to retrieve the information back. Well I have successful got my recordings of and put them on a dvd however I have a few problems.
1. Don't think I have done it right (didn't understand the instructions - need an idiots kind) as I have the picutre but no sound. (the sound is there as I have heard it before I copied it onto the dvd. Now Nero did come up saying that I didn't have a tuner or something - so I downloaded that and then recorded it thinking that it was then pick up the relevant files, maybe I needed to do something to tell it that it now had something to get the sound from.
2.the other thing is that I was hoping to be able to edit it on my dvd player/recorder so that I can get rid of the rubbish but it won't let me as Nero has put it into it's own title.
I would appreciate some help with this if there is anyone that can give me idiot instructions as I am getting very weary of spending over 4 nights trying to figure it out and not going to bed til 3am and having a 1 year waking my up at 6 is not good *whimper whimper*
Thanks guys
Sam

Can you play the vob files with sound in media player classic or vlc?
If so, you should just be able to drag them in nero from your hard disk to your video_ts folder, along with the ifo and bup files.
Answers:
Hi and thank you for replying. Yes I can play the VOB file in the software that you linked. I understand what you mean about dragging and dropping the other two extensions into a TS file. But first of all I haven't got a folder called tha nor a BUP or IF file.
Where else do I need to look?
Answers:
Do you have the original files on your hard drive? In which format? If you don't know, you can download and install this to your computer;
Answers:
The files are ones that I managed to extract this is how they are set out on my PC.
Folder which sits in "my videos" is called "New Folder" and inside this is the following:
VR_MANGR.BUP
VR_MANGR_IFO
VR_MOVIE.VRO
VTS_01_1.VOB
Is this of any help?

were all those files in the video_ts folder when you created the dvd? Is it a dvd-ram recorder?
Answers:
oh blimery albertross, now your asking. (I'm only a simple girl).
I haven't created anything . I just used that ISO buster and it asked me where where I wanted to save the extracted files to so I put them in a new folder I created.
Tell you want if its of any help. When I did eventualy burn them through Nero it transferred them into folder and renamed each title as a .mpg files. If I copied the BUP etc files into this would that work?
Ijn reply to your question about the machine the dvd was not created with my dvd player but with a camcorder.
Answers:
Just done a search on my C for VIDEO_TS files and it has brought up a folder and in it are all of the other files.
so is this what we are looking for - what do I do with it.
Sorry to be so thick but this is all so new to me. I do appreciate your time.

If you follow the guide in the second link of my first post.. it might work (go into Nero, select DVD video, give it a title in the label tab, select new, then within nero drag the ifo, vob, and bup files from your hard disk into the dvds video_ts folder, then hit the burn icon..) the guide explains it better ..
not sure what to do about the vro file though (how big is it?)... maybe forget about that for now if you have a spare DVD to try it with. Does the vob file have everything you recorded with sound?
Answers:
Hi Albertross. I'm just having a go now and trying to find Nero 6 and I have Nero 7 and it says you have to use 6. So I will give it a wirl. Yes this does have sound.
I'm going to give myself 20 minutes and see what happens.
So you so much. You and donnie have been fantastic.

You should be able to do it in 7..
What are the file sizes of the vob and vro files?
Did you get any software with the camera for converting vro files to vob?
Answers:
I'm a little confused about the VOB and the VRO files. As albertross asked earlier, knowing the size of the files could help.
I think that the VRO files is the original and the other files are the DVD structure.
Simply re-naming the VRO files to .mpg will make them playable on a standard media player.
It could be that the VRO files contain all of the information that you need. No need for conversion, you may be able to just rename.
It seems that albertross has the grasp of what's happening there. I'm off on my hols in a few hours.
Hope you get it sorted.
Use the Mediainfo program to deduce what's what.
Answers:
Thanks Donnie. Albertross - No I can't seem to do it in 7. I didmanaged to convert the video files to mpg in Nero before but this is where I don't have the sound. I copied the other two files you were on about (one only has 47kb in the other two have 0kb) into the folder that contains the video but still no sound - perhaps I thought this too easy.

Missed my flight, so have more time. What size is the VRO file?
Answers:
The VRO file sayd 0 bytes.
I have tonight tried to burn it again using DVD decrypter which it did do but I get the error message that another person posted on here eralier on Page 2 I think. And when I try to play it on my DVD player it re-formats it arghhhhh.
Will I ever see my honeymoon video properly.
In the other post the reply to the original thread mentioned about burning in ISO mode - how do you do that.
Answers:
Could you confirm that:
The folder on your hard disk has 3 files in it, a large vob (this one should play in media player classic with sound), an ifo, and a bup file..
and on the DVD's that you have created, you should have a audio_ts folder that is empty, and a video_ts folder with the 3 files (vob, ifo, bup). If this is the case, try double clicking on the vob file (On the DVD drive, not the hard disk) on your PC, to launch it in media player classic.. to see if you get sound while playing the DVD on the PC, also on the media player classic file properties/details screen, it should say mpeg 2 780x blah blah..
Can't see that going down the iso route would make any difference atm.

Hi again Albertross.
This is what I have:
On the CD Driver a folder which contains VR_MANGR.BUP and is 28kb, VR_MANGR.IFO that is 0kb, VR_MOVIE.VRO and is 0kb and the last one VTS_01_1.VOB which is 940,896kb and I was able to play this file in the media classic.
On the DVD I burnt. I do have two files the AUDIO_TS and yes it is empty the other VIDEO_TS folder which has a lot more than 3 files. vob,bup and vob. It looks like they could be for each scene. I tried to click on one of the VOB file on it and it wouldn't open it.
p.s. just manage to open one of the files in media classic (the vob file on the DVD) and there is no sound.
Answers:
Could you outline the steps you took to create the DVD? I'm intrigued on how it has managed to split it up.. What are the sizes and filenames of the files on the DVD.
Answers:
I used DVD shrink and then just clicked on backup. Is there
a way of cutting and pasting the list of files?
Answers:
Just trying to copy again in Nero and it comes up saying DVD Video Plug in required. Could this be what's wrong?
