Question:
I have a Thomson top-up TV box that has died and is only 1/12 years old. I've checked other sites and come across some 20 or so reviews saying that the Thomson box I have is basically rubbish, in fact those poor people make me feel lucky!!
Can anyone recommended a reliable but cheap box (not top-up).

Answers:
I wouldn't necessarily write off THomson. I have their PVR, which had 5* reviews at a £250 price tag! I can't recommend a good one myself in fact I'm about to start ranting! but our Philips ones (two of them!) both died, got replaced and died again, our sagem one was so noisy you could hear it over the TV, and our bush one we have at the moment keeps freezing and has to be reset many times a week. All of these have been around the £50 mark, so I'd be interested if any has a decent one worth buying. What's most annoying is on phoning the helpline, I was told you should just expect them to freeze up - I wasn't a happy bunny!
Actually I just remembered Digifusion FRT101 we have had over a year and not had a problem with. Be careful though they have several with similar sounding names and I;m not sure they are all decent.

Thanks Joe. You've really made my day!!
We also have a Humax which is a few years old and doesn't have any problems.
I forgot about it because it is in my daughter's room. Mind you she doesn't watch much TV so I don't think it gets used much.
