I hope you can help.
I have four TV’s in the house running off the same aerial/sky.
I have always used a splitter with a booster off the main set and it has worked well. I was able to play videos in the living room which could be watched in the bedrooms.
Since buying a new DVD-VHS recorder, I can still watch all channels including Sky, but cannot pick up the video or DVD anywhere except on the main TV. I think it is something to do with the fact that the videio/DVD signal comes to the TV through a scart lead and the rest come through the co-ax cable. I don’t understand why they don’t come through the co-ax like before.
Any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks

I have a similar arrangement.
Where/when do you use the splitter? You would need to split the signal after it leaves the video to pickup the output
Answers:
1) Sky dish to SKY box.
2) Co-ax Aerial to SKY box to DVD to SPLITTER to TV1/2/3/4
3) Scart connections from SKY box to DVD and from DVD to TV1.
Thanks for your help.

I'm kind of guessing, but perhaps the video is playing on a differnent channel from your previous one.
Is it worth playing a video and then retuning one of the teles to see if it can be found on a different frequency?
Answers:
Does your new DVD/Video have coaxial connections ?
The Coaxial system should be wired like this.
TV Aerial ->> Sky Box ->> DVD/Video --> Splitter Booster ->> to each TV.
The scart leads is a seperate system (to the RF coaxial one). The scarts will only work to the Local TV. ie the Tv the scart lead is plugged into.

Just thought,
There may be an option in the Menu's on the new DVD/VHS to set where the output signal goes.
At present it may be only going to say the Scart socket AV1 you may be able to change it to AV2, RF or a combination AV1 + RF etc
Answers:
Thanks but I've tried that (with a DVD anyway) would a video make a difference? standalone DVD players usually don't have an RF (Coaxial) system and the output would usually be sent directly to the Scarts or to Svideo etc. It may be that your DVD/VHS player is doing the same. So I would try a video

Answers:
No it shouldn't
I can't think why it doesn't work, if I come up with anything I'll post back.
if you remove the scart from DVD to TV1, can you get the picture there via another channel?
Answers:
It is a combi and I have now tried retuning with a DVD and a video. No luck.
Cypher I can find various menu options, but nothing that looks anything like changing output from AV1 to AV2 etc.
thanks all

Thanks so much.

On Sony's website there is a connectivity guide to show how things should be hooked up
I've not managed to find a download for the manual yet.

I had a similar problem when I bought a panasonic video, I discovered that by default the video didn't output through RF, just scart, this was supposed to reduce interference on the tv and could be changed through a menu option. Another option as suggested above is that the video doesn't output via the RF at all, it's just for recording and passthrough.
Answers:
Looks like it should output via coax.

Optical / Coaxial Output for DVD and VHS I believe these connections are used for the Audio bitstream from the recorder.
Looking at the connectivity guide from the Sony website, I would say the aerial connection is solely for analogue passthrough to the tv (and to the tuner in the recorder) not the DVD output, which can only be done via the scart or s-video output.
However all is not lost - although you will have to spend some money, unfortunately. If it turns out you can't output the VCR/DVD signal to the rest of the house you could always buy one of these.
.
Basically you can insert it in the path after the RF output of your DVD and before the splitter. And use the composite video out and audio signal to feed it.
I would contact Sony's helpline first to clarify, though.

Thanks for all the replies.
I contacted Sony today and they said that they don't think it's possible (as per OK Sauce). Theyadvised me to try Curry's to see if they had any sort of adapter. They didn't know if such a thing is possible!
I like the look of the your idea OK Sauce, but do you understand whether I can plug my scart into that adapter or not. I can't understand the ad!
Thanks

Right, I've found a cheaper product from maplin
Loop your aerial connection through this after your DVD before your splitter.
If you have a spare scart output from the dvd it will plug straight into the back of it. If not, are there three phono OUTPUTS on the back of your DVD/VCR for video and stereo audio? If so you can also buy one of these
.
Run three phono to phono leads to the scart adapter and then plug the scart into the back of the rf modulator.
If there are are no phono outputs the you will need a scart splitter 1 scart to two scarts.
Any of these methods should sort you out.

The "Budget" modulator here is cheaper:
