Question:
I really need a new PC but not being technical minded at all I'd appreciate your help!
I've seen this one:
(sorry about the long link, told you I wasn't techie, someone did tell me how to do short links but it won't work in firefox for some reason)
Anyway, is that a good PC? I don't need a super duper one, so long as it connects to the net and I can type on it then that'll do me!
Anyone got any other recommendations for a quality, PC under £300?
Answers:
Have a look here, and for not a lot more you can get a better specced machine:
In particular this one for £349 (the one with the DVD-RW highlighted)

Thanks for the links f1charlie, I'll certainly consider that!

Sorry I registered your requirement for under £300 afterwards (must read more carefully!), but as you may have noticed there is a Dell for £299 also. I'll sum up what I think are the pros and cons of the Dell against the LX machine:
Pros: TFT monitor rather than old CRT telly style
Reads DVDs
Slightly more powerful processor
Cons: Only 90 day collect and return warranty
Won't write CDs
However I think you should look for a machine with at least 512Mb memory. Hope this helps.

It's ok, I am willing to go at least £50 over budget so long as I get a better PC than this old dinosaur!! Thanks again!

Thanks once again, I appreciate your guidance!
My son has an acer laptop that my parents bought him for christmas last year, it's not too bad but my brother got the same one and he's had no end of trouble with it!

If you don't need a monitor and have an operating system install disc, you can this one form Misco for £129.99 + vat:

Thanks for that link jaws77, I have a monitor (although it's ancient) and an operating disc so I'll have a think about that!
