Satellite to tv in other room

Question:
I recently bought one of these devices which allows you to watch Sky in another room, in my case my bedroom. It looked simple enough (and was when my parents tried the same thing) but it doesn't work for me!!
I have plugged the scart lead into the back of my sky box, and the scart lead for the receiver into the back of the tv in my bedroom - both sender and receiver are set to same channel - nothing, nada, zilch!!!
The tv in bedroom is a combined tv/video - has this got something to do with it. Parents mentioned that they couldn't get it to work until they pressed the AV button on the remote for their other TV. Mine doesn't have an AV button.
Any ideas? I don't really want to have to buy a new tv. Please keep any instructions simple as poss as I'm not very technical (as you can probably tell!! ).
Ta.

What's the make/model of your sender and receiver? They do have differences regarding their setup.

The receiver either needs to be plugged into your remote TV's Scart socket and the TV switched to AV or the receiver needs to have an ordinary aerial connection which will plug into your remote TV's aerial socket, in which case I believe the TV will have to be tuned in to the output channel of the receiver.

Thanks for your reply. TRANWO - Model No.TTA 27T
I don't have an A/V channel (that I can find anyway) on my TV so I'll give it a try with ariel connection. (Tho might wait until the storm passes - don't feel safe messing with electrical items during storms!!)
Thanks again for your help.

try cycling through the channels, sometimes 0 is AV.

Your user manual is downloadable in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) format here:

It does have a facility to connect the receiver to the remote TV via ordinary aerial connection if your TV doesn't have a Scart socket. The manual has all the set-up possibilities in diagram form.

HTH

P.S. Having reread your initial post, you obviously have a Scart socket and so must have an AV channel. Try Albertross's suggestion of channel 0 on the remote.

Thanks for all your replies - but still no joy. I DO have a SCART socket on the TV but can find no AV channel. Have scrolled through them all and tried 0 and 00 but still nada!
Have I connected the transmitter correctly - just plugged scart plug into socket in back of sky (there are 2 does it matter which one?) and connected electrical supply. On other tv, again electrical supply connected and SCART plug in only SCART socket on back of TV. When connected through the SCART sockets should I have to tune the channel in (tried to anyway but ccouldn't pick up SKY up at all).
Answers:
Check your Sky Digibox manual as sometimes you need to enable the scart through the menu. Also not both scarts offer the same functions. Again your Sky manual should offer some help.
Suggest you post on and you are bound to get the right answer.
I have a Sky+ box connect by a remote sender (Phillips) to a combi TV/DVD Player and it works fine. Did have some initial trouble setting up and you may need to move position of reciver to ensure it is getting a good signal.
You must have an AV channel if you have a scart socket. Usually it is the little TV icon with an arrow pointing out of it horizontally on the remote.
Good luck.

Many thanks for your advice, waster. Just about to go out, but will give your suggestions a try as soon as I get back.

No, the AV channel should pick up the Scart input.
That's what I thought - have also tried tuning though just in case!

if you have a scart input on your tv you must have an av channel or am i talking nonsense(i do that a lot) !!!!!!!
Answers:
Not really sure of the wiring on the sender but if your TV really does not have a way of selecting an AV input it must rely on pin 8 on the scart supplying a switching voltage
Most bits of AV kit would do this
What's the make/model of the TV?

mcfisco-l ook at post number 3 for the model and 6 for the manual

I was interested in the TV model not the sender, cheers anyway
Another thought, has the remote got a button marked TV/AV or TV/EXT or similar?

TV is DAEWOO GB14H1T.
Have tried everything suggested so far and still no joy. Have brought 2nd tv into living room (to save me running up and down stairs!!). Transmitter/receiver seem to be working fine as I can stand in the way of the sky box, point the remote at the receiver and change the sky channel - can only see this on main tv of course. So problem definately seems to be finding how to switch to AV channel on this TV.
Checked settings on sky box as someone suggested and one option - SCART control - was set to off, have now changed it to on but as I said I think it is the AV channel that is the problem.
Even if I don't get this working at least I now know a 'little' about TVs, scarts and AV channels!! Got to look on the bright side because if I don't get this working I know I'll end up going to buy the same LCD TV as my parents (as I know this will work) and so end up spending £150 - not a lot for an LCD TV but more than I can afford to spend at moment!!
Thanks for all the replies so far.

Your TV's manual is here:

You've found the right button, I think.

SCART socket.

This is used to connect : a VCR a CAMCODER and a video game console or satellite TV receiver or DVD.
In most cases, the set changes automatically to AV mode, when the VCR connected is in playback mode.
If not, press the AV button on the remote controller.
The AV will be displayed on the screen with the current programme number.
In AV mode, you can change the TV programme number with the
VW (that's up arrow and down arrow) buttons or the Number buttons 0~9.
You must turn the external equipment off to return to the TV mode or press the button (square with an arrow).

In SCART Slow SW mode, when you insert the tape without tab, it will playback.
But, in SCART Fast SW mode, when you insert the tape without tab, it will not playback and only loading.
If you insert the SCART plug in playback status it will change to scart mode and VCR will be modified to stop
mode.

Have you found how to switch between Fast and Slow Scart modes and, if so, tried both?
