New Dell Inspiron Laptop Screen Image Quality

Question:
How can i, or is it possible to get a good clear crisp image on my new Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop (yes the bargain one this week)?
I have taken a picture so you can see what im aiming for. This old laptpop is a Medion MIM2120 same screen size etc and i didnt take any upgrade options on the screen when it was brought so i assumed that this was a standard screen and expected the Dell to be just the same. The problem is the Dell just doesnt have that clear crispness to it and also the viewing angle is not as good as the Medion. Maybe i should have also taken a pic of a normal screen with various colours so you could see better but i thought it might be better to show the blacks as you can then see how they vary.
Also does anyone know how long you get to decide if you want to keep a Dell system before having to return it if you decide to?
I have to say that the Dell sound is much better than the Medion, both quality and volume. The speed is definately noticable too and it plays games my Medion wouldnt. I know the Dell is the way forward and is a much better spec than the Medion but i get attached to things and find it hard to part with (will be selling Medion to offset cost of new one). I also think the Medion looks nicer and more well layed out. Im just trying to convince myself that the Dell really is the right option and at the moment the image is my biggest concern. Oh yes, just thought i would say that ive been in the colour settings and matched the Dell to the Medion by changing the gamma etc so they are the same.

The Dell one is a standard TFT and the Medion is the Newer "Glossy" Screen as you can see the reflection in it.
You would have to change the screen.

have you tried adjusting the brightness with Fn + up/down arrow (edited!)
if you wanted shiny, you should have order a trulife screen
Answers:
Thanks for the replies. I didnt realise it was the glossy type i had on my Medion.
I had looked at the reviews given to others on an internet site about not getting the 'truelife' from Dell due to how bad the reflections are and not being able to see well, if you have bright light round you etc. It showed examples and i was really pleased i hadnt ordered that screen as it looked far too reflective. If thats what ive been using on my Medion though then perhaps i should have ordered it.
I would say though that in the summertime when i would sit outside with my Medion it could be quite hard to get in a position to see the screen properly. Do you think that it will be easier with this Dell to see when sitting outside?

Well it was sunny today. If its sunny 2mrw, go outside and test it against the medion Yes good idea. Was going to do that but hardwood table and chair set needs sorting out so havent got anywhere comfy to sit (keep meaning to post thread about how to sort them out). For the purpose of what i want to know though will find somewhere to sit for few minutes and see what its like. Will let you know. Thanks

thanks You need to look for the brightness icon on the keys, it's probably on the arrow keys.

thanks On mine i have to press Fn and the up and down arrow keys, they have like a sun image on them, maybe yours is the same.
I have just taken my laptop outside and im really not impressed. Even with the brightness on full (which is going to give me shorter battery life) the screen is not very visable. Its almost as if it has a film over it that needs taking off. On my Medion at least if i got in a good position with no reflections then i could see a nice bright clear screen. This Dell just seems dull and somewhat blurry in comparison. Beginning to agree that i should have ordered the truelife screen.
