Question:
I have a 4gb ipod mini which i bought last week from apple refurb for £82. I thought I'd be happy with that but I've just reserved a 20 creative Zen photo from argos for £109 that I can get until the end of today.
The question is, Shall I send the ipod back/sell it on ebay (it's unused) and byuy the Zen or shall I just settle with the ipod.
cheers

I suppose it really rests on whether or not you need the 20gb.
I have also reserved a zen from Argus
Great price !! I take a lot of pictures on holiday and this is a good way to store and see them before I get back, as well as storing my mp3's and it has a radio as well.
If It was just for storing music then I would stick with the mini.

I'm going away soon and i intend to take my laptop to carry on 'studying' so all my photos could go on there - at I'd be able to see them better!.

Ok Dumb Question do you need to use a computer to download your photo's from your camera to a ZEN?

I won a 4Gb ipod mini, and I have to say I'm not very impressed. Battery life is awful and I find it a real pain to update my tunes. Not for me I'm afraid, but hey, it's free!

ipods are fashion items... most MP3 players that cost a 3rd of the price of a new Ipod work much better and have better battery life. Only downside is they dont have as much memory

Thanks for that.

I've just won a 1Gb MP3 player. The sound quality is much inferior to my Ipod with Video using the same tracks and earbuds. Ipods rock!

chances are its a cheap peice of crap then. IPods are highly overpriced for what they are, MP3 players (that dont come from woolworths and various other cheap places) work fine, and many are better than Ipods.
Just a little sidenote, NEVER buy an MP3 player from woolworths, my school bought MP3 players from woolworths last year to give as prizes for various things... at least 30 had to be returned.

I bought a Zen today, same deal as you but I got the insurance @ £18.99 for 3 years, good as it covers accidental damage. This will be the second Zen I've had, loved my first but it broke, it was bigger at 30gb and was nearly full (mostly photos) its will be great to view the photos on this newer one. Its charging now, can't wait to get started!
By the way, the Zen is excluded from the 16 day money back garrantee in Argos so think carefully before you buy it and check your Ipod is not excluded or you might end up with two and you can't return either!

I love my iPod (nano) and wouldn't have anything else but that is a good price, for sure.
The insurance is also cheap - but MSE's should be aware that they may have cover on their home insurance with "all risks" - I have it for my laptop, iPod, and whatever else I happen to have with me, and it's £33.
Generally I see the point of shopping in Argos is disappearing. Since they got taken over they offer the 16-day money-back guarantee on fewer and fewer items. If nothing else it's sneaky as sure they tell you in small print, but they also trade on this as a reason to shop there. Unimpressed!

i bought the Zen today - maybe i should have got the insurance (oh well too late now) anyway- i love it!!!!
really easy to use (haven't used any manuals yet!)
i used to have a ministry of sound, but that was a real pain to load
i would say Zen over iPod as iPods seem to be nice design over content (personal view, not had an iPod, but no-one i know with one seems really happy)
my husband bought a Zen Vision M 30gig 2 weeks ago which he loves (swayed my choice to Creative) but said if the one i bought was available at the time for the same price, he would have probably bought it, (he paid £190 from for his)

I too bought one from Argos today but I keep getting the following message 'Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen Sleek Photo to the computer' I am connected but nothing registers between the two? Think I need a little advice. Thanks

I had a Zen nano which I loved - I now have the Ipod 30gb video which I bought for £149 from a tip here and I really can't praise it enough. I'm not as fussed on ITunes but I love my Ipod far more than I expected. And although I wasn't fussed on storing photos and videos, now that I can I do and I love it.

Not a techie I'm afraid but here's my thoughts.
We charged my son's Sleek fully via the mains but NOT connected to PC. We then installed all the Creative software but NOT the Windows Media Player as we already have that. I seem to remember something about needing Windows XP and possibly Service Pack 2 (SP2) as well. We then connected the player and it was recognised immediately and XP installed the drivers.
At a non-techie guess if your PC runs XP with SP2 and you installed the same way we did then it presumably should have worked. You could try uninstalling the software using Add/Remove programs and then reinstalling as above and see how you get on?
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers,

Catch 22. It sounds like you have a problem with your usb connection. Can u connect other things to the usb hub that you are trying to connect the Creative zen to ?
I connected mine to my computer via my usb connector and have had no probs. I did not load any of the software and the Zen shows up as just another drive on 'my computer' which includes folders for 'photos' and 'music'. I then just deleted the music and pictures that came pre-installed and dragged and dropped my albums and photos into their respective folders and they worked great.

I love my 20GB iPod and my wife's 30GB video iPod is even better. Got a tiny (PP3) external battery pack to extend the running time to 8 hours for long flights. I use mine for music, audiobooks and for storing foreign phrases. Uploading stuff is a dream with iTunes.
