Question:
Surely there must be a way of not having to many cables behind your TV.
I have Plasma with a scart, two DVD players each with a scart, a Freeview box also with scarts and then all the other cables to go with it.
Someone did try to explain once that you can loop them all up but to be honest I didn't understand.

I got some cable tiders that are like plastic coils you insert the cables and use like a huge zip to insert the cables in the coil, you can cut the coil to any size shorter than its 3 metres length. I got mine from one of those cheap shops at Clifton Moor, York. I dont remember the name but its a national chain. I have seen them before on Ebay in 5 metres lengths too. I got two pcs and used one 3 metres length and cut in two. I then did a tv in bedroom along with a pvr and have some spare for another pc.
This is the sort of thing. You can find them on ebay type "cable tidy"

If all the cables behind a PC and its monitor and speakers, etc, came from, and went to, the same location then a cable tidy would be very useful!
Unfortunately they don't...

Well they all need cables obviously but not all of them need to go into the tv. Do either of your dvd players have more than one scart socket on the back? If so you can connect one dvd player to the next, then that one into your digibox and then the didgibox is the only thing connected to the tv.
I'm not clear on why you have two dvd players though?

I do have the dvd players going from one to the other - it's just all the scarts look such a mess.
I have two dvd players as one is a recorder. So I can play dvd's and the copy them onto the HDD so I don't have to keep getting all my dvd's out.
Perhaps that is what it's down to then ah - just getting some cable tidies.
Thanks for your help guys.

i wish someone would make cables that can be cut to length, that way it would so much eaiser to keep them all together and tidy.

I've stuffed all my units (2 freeview boxes, satellite, VCR and DVD recorder) into an entertainment unit in the corner of the room and used an AEI digisender to connect them all to the TV wirelessly) the TV has only the receiver unit attached to it and that is it. Works really great.

Jasmin,
You may be able to cut down a bit, I hate too many boxes under the TV it looks really bad, I too have a DVD recorder and DVD and also an old VCR.
What I do is keep the DVD player and VCR in the cupboard and on the rare occation I need to copy anything I get them out and plug them in via the composite (red yellow & Black) connectors on the front of my DVD recorder.
It make a big difference and if your like me the DVD player does not often get used to copy DVD's to the HDD.
Even better you could invest in a portable DVD player (much smaller) and use in the same way as well as taking it out and about in the car etc.

If you can afford a plasma tv, you'll not be worrying about the price of this..

I had the same problem, Plasma, amp, DVD, DVD recorder, Sky+, PS2, sub woofer.
I used a 6 way extension which i attached to the wall behind the stand and looped the cables together and cabled tied. It still looked a bit tatty but not as bad so i invested in a couple of mirrors.

Where did you get the glass shelves? I'm looking for something similar for when we move.

There's 2 different shelves there. There's 2 under the plasma which were from B&Q for about £16 each. I bought them hoping to be able to put the DVD and Sky+ box on them but they're not wide enough.
The glass stand is from Richer Sounds and cost £119 but well worth it and has cable management in the stand, but i got too stressed it it all to use it. It's a Hi Fi rack but looks the nuts for TV stuff.

A belated thanks for that, since there's no thanks button any more

Have you tried repositioning your sub? Vibarations will have a negative effect on the sound of your set up and having the sub on the rack with the rest of the equipment isn't ideal! Maybe you won't notice any difference but I would give it a try if you've got time to kill on a rainy Sunday afternoon!

Timmy..
It 'should' go near an outside wall but i live in a mid mews (dunno why they can't call them a terrace) so there are no outside walls and i don't fancy having it next to the neighbours wall.
The amp and speakers give out some hefty sound so i've had to turn the sub right down so i don't end up with next door complaining. It's running on -5db at the minute and the amp is pumping out around -20db when watching films. It sounds ok where it is but if i could have the volume higher i would move it, just can't in this house.
